Brassaï

Artist, French, born Transylvania, 1899 - 1984

The sculpture being held by the man in the image depicts a long, outstretched human arm and hand. It appears to be predominantly white in color, with a texture suggesting it is made of plaster or a similar material. The sculpture is mounted on a small rectangular base, which he is holding in one hand, while the elongated arm extends horizontally in front of him. The depiction and material give the sculpture an abstract or unfinished impression. The studio is cluttered with canvases and artistic tools scattered behind and beneath him.
