The image depicts a man posing for a portrait. He is shown from about the mid-torso up, facing slightly to his right with his head turned towards the viewer. The man has curly hair that reaches just above his shoulders, a neatly trimmed mustache and beard, and stern facial features. He is wearing a garment with a large ruff collar and voluminous sleeves. His hands are crossed at his waist, holding a piece of fabric. The background is plain and unembellished.
