The image shows a man from the waist up, leaning on a ledge with his left arm and holding a horn to his mouth with his right hand. He has prominent eyebrows, a straight nose, and a slightly open mouth. The man wears a loose-fitting, long-sleeved garment, and a cap on his head. Behind him is a window frame with a diamond lattice pattern, and in the background, a wooden structure with vines or flowers around a window. The name "A. Ostade" is inscribed above the man's head.
