Printed in shades of muted pink and taupe brown on almond-white paper, this nearly abstract horizontal print appears to show two women with mask-like features in an interior. The women are on the right with one facing us and the other turned to our left in profile. Both have blocky, angular features and bodies. A grid near the woman in profile could be a window. The form of a dog can made out to the left, but other shapes are hard to interpret. An inscription in the lower left margin below the image reads, “Carolina Morning 1/1” and the artist signed the lower right, “Romare Bearden.”
