Artist, Swedish, 1860 - 1920

The image shows a head-and-shoulders view of a person seated slightly to the right of the frame. The individual is in a three-quarter view, holding an ornate vertical object in their left hand, with their gaze directed off to the right beyond the picture's confines. Their facial features are rendered with softened lines, showcasing a strong nose and a subtle smile framed by shadowy hatching, and their hair is voluminous, with loose curls spilling over the shoulders. They are wearing a dark, voluminous cloak or jacket with a thick collar. In their hand, they clutch a tall, narrow scepter or cane with an elaborate design near the top. The background is abstract, with swirling and chaotic lines.
