This is a photograph of a sign advertising rooms for rent at $4.00 and up a night. The image shows the front facade of a building with a large wooden sign that reads "ROOMS $4.00 AND UP A NIGHT." Shadows and stains partially obscure the sign. To the left is a smaller image on the wall showing a figure rowing a small boat in a river or canal setting with flora and a landscape. The photo is high contrast and black-and-white with strong shadows, suggesting midday sunlight. In the lower foreground, a shadow on the wall resembles someone holding a camera. A small empty planter pot and a round cactus are also visible. The composition evokes a vintage, nostalgic atmosphere typical of early or mid-20th-century street photography.
