The image shows a man depicted from the waist up, leaning back in a relaxed position. His facial features are round and his eyes appear to be half-closed. He has short, neatly combed brown hair. The man is dressed in a white shirt with a dark-colored jacket over it. In his right hand, he holds a smoking pipe, from which a cloud of smoke is elegantly drifting upwards. In his left hand, resting on a ledge, he holds a small glass. The background of the image is plain, with a subtle gradation of color. The text on the document identifies this image as part of "Galerie Physionomique" with the number "N°9" visible at the top right corner. The lower part of the image features cursive text labeling the image as "Le vrai Fumeur | A true Smoker."
