Artwork history & notes
Provenance
The artist, Geneva.[1] Arnold A. [1916-2014] and Joan R. [1919-2019] Saltzman, Sands Point, New York; gift 2020 to NGA.
[1] According to Jean-Marc Brachard of the store Brachard + Cie, Geneva, (email dated 10/3/2020 in NGA curatorial file), the Brachard stamp on the stretcher indicates the canvas was assembled at the store, which at the time sold artist materials and sometimes works of art by the same artists who purchased materials there. The address on the stretcher was in use from 1910-1920.
