One of C's last works, left incomplete at his death / Consdiered by Bartsch his masterpiece. L. Carraci had it finish(sic) by Agostino's pupil F. Bricci

Alexandre Vlassoff, Moscow [died 1825] (Lugt 2706); Vladamir Likhatchoff (not in Lugt); Samuel Solomonovitch Scheikevitch, Moscow and Paris [1842 - 1908] (Lugt 2367). Possibly one of the Princes Gagarin (Paul Paulovich?) (see Lugt 126). Leo Steinberg [1920 - 2011]; purchased 1966 by Dr. Stephen Ostrow; gift to NGA.
