Artist, Norwegian, 1863 - 1944

The image shows a person walking down a narrow alley or passageway. The individual is depicted with a slightly hunched posture, looking to the right, and appears to be in motion. The person's facial features are obscured by the stylized nature of the artwork, but they seem to have a beard and long hair. Their head is covered with a hat that has a wide brim. The individual is dressed in a long coat with broad folds and carries a bag on their back. The background features tall, narrow vertical lines on either side of the alley and abstract patterns suggesting a cloudy sky overhead. The style is reminiscent of an expressive woodcut, with sharp contrasts and bold outlines.
