Artist, American, 1903 - 2004

This print shows a large group of people sitting closely packed together on the deck of a ship. They have detailed facial features and appear to have medium-toned skin with short, dark hair. They are mostly nude, although some seem to have cloths wrapped around their waists. The people all appear very thin, and many have expressions of distress on their faces, some covering their faces with their hands. The people are seated cross-legged or with their knees drawn up to their chests on wooden planks. In the background, some people are seated in a confined space on a raised platform. Ropes are hanging from the ship's side, connecting to the dark sail above, and a hint of the rough waves is visible on the right, over the side of the ship. Surrounding the print is a border of off-white paper.
