The image shows a subterranean setting, with a vast salt mine extending into the distance. The ground and ceiling of the mine create a horizon, with some light visible at the back and a small shack-like structure nearby. Detailed linework brushstrokes depict the walls of the cave and shadows cast by a light source. The color palette is monochromatic, black and white contrasting the light inside the mine with the darkness of the environment. Railway tracks, a cart filled with rocks, figures working near a bright light, and shadows on the walls and ceiling are also visible.
