The image shows a dockside with large wooden boats lined up vertically. The boats have sails rising high and the scene directs attention towards the horizon. Buildings are visible in the distance and a few small sailboats can be seen on the calm sea. The etching technique used is dynamic and expressive, with strong, sketch-like strokes conveying movement and texture. The palette is monochrome, with shades of gray and black emphasizing strong contrasts. Closest to us, there are figures of people and animals etched in the same dynamic style. There is a man playing a guitar, two figures engaged in conversation, and small animals on the cobblestones. The harbor path leads to a town in the distance, where more figures are visible walking along the quay. The scene is lively near the dock and brings character to the quiet waters beyond.
