The photograph features a low angle view looking across a narrow body of water towards a grassy bank. The horizon line is high in the image, hidden mostly by dense grass and bushes. The sky above has scattered clouds. Darker trees are seen in the distance above the horizon. A large tree is on the right side of the image, framing the scene with its trunk and branches. The image is monochrome, using shades of gray, white, and black to emphasize textures and shadows in the foliage and water.
