Tapestry-covered Cushion

c. 1675/1725

Netherlandish 17th or 18th Century

This is a photograph of a decorative pillow with a heraldic design. The pillow features intricate tapestry work depicting a coat of arms. The center features a shield with a red background and a vertical white stripe flanked by stars. A pair of heraldic lions stand on either side of the shield in an elaborate traditional style. Above the shield is a crown, and above the crown, a ribbon bears the word "GOUDA". The design includes rich colors of gold, red, and blue, with the date "1672" subtly integrated into the upper border. The overall effect is grand and historic, reflecting the heraldic tradition.
