Artist, Dutch, 1618 - 1676

The image shows a horse and a dog close to us on the left side. The horse is standing with its back turned, facing slightly to the right. Next to the horse, a dog is lying down. In the background, a figure is seated on another horse, facing right. The horizon line is low, with the sky taking up a large part of the picture. Delicately drawn clouds are visible in the sky. The image is monochrome, with black and gray ink used for shading. Detailed linework is used to create texture, particularly in the depiction of the animals' fur and the figure's clothing.
