Artist, American, born England, 1830 - 1904

The image is a series of black and white photographic frames capturing a nude person in various positions as they attempt to rise from the ground. The person's full body is visible in each frame, showing the progression of their movements from lying prone on the ground to a kneeling position, and finally to a standing posture. The individual's facial features show concentration, with hair pulled back. There are no visible items of jewelry or objects in their hands. The background consists of a lined grid pattern on a vertical surface, possibly a backdrop, and the ground beneath them appears to be covered with a textured rug.
