The image shows a group of children lined up, visible from the waist up, with their attention focused on an older man. The man is bent over slightly, facing the child in the foreground, and appears to be attaching something onto the child's garment. His features include glasses and aging lines, with thin, swept-back hair. The child he is attending to has short, neatly combed hair and is wearing a dark shirt with a white collar. The other children in the background have similar haircuts and clothing. The scene is set against a plain background fading into the upper part of the image.
