The sculpture is a circular relief medallion featuring two figures. The central subject is a robed figure holding a torch in her right hand. Beside her is a smaller figure standing on a pedestal reaching towards the torch. The figures are depicted in a classical style, with the larger figure dressed in a draped garment. The medallion is bronze in color, suggesting it is made from a metal like bronze. The border of the medallion has an intricate, woven pattern. Inscribed to the right of the figures are the words "THE ADMISSION OF INDIANA TO THE UNION." The sculpture is detailed and skillfully rendered.
