Victor Desfossés, Paris; (his sale, Paris, 26 April 1899, no. 27. as Les Amateurs d'Estampes). (Eugene Glaenzer and Co., New York), by 1899.[1] William A. Clark [1839-1925], New York;[2] bequest 1926 to the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington; acquired 2014 by the National Gallery of Art.

[1] This is uncertain as Eugene Glaezner and Co. was not established until 1902.

[2] An annotated copy of Desfossés' auction catalogue indicates that the painting was purchased by Durand-Ruel. However, a 1934 letter from Durand-Ruel to the Corcoran Gallery of Art states that they did not sell the painting to Clark.
