The image shows two individuals depicted from the mid-thigh up, positioned side by side. The person on the left is a young woman standing with her head slightly bowed and eyes cast downward, having long hair that flows down past her shoulders. Her facial features are delicate with a gentle profile. She appears to be wearing a loose, off-the-shoulder dress with pleats. The person on the right is an older woman facing slightly towards the younger woman. Her head is turned in profile, and she wears a large, ornate hat adorned with a ribbon and bow. She has a full figure wrapped in a voluminous shawl, and she holds a closed, pointed umbrella in front of her. The background consists of vertical, linear strokes giving a textured appearance.
