The image depicts two men fishing. The scene shows the men from their heads to their waists, standing in water up to their waists. The man in the foreground is in a side profile, facing the right side of the image. He has a long nose, a prominent chin, and short hair, partially covered by a brimmed hat. His facial features are caricatured with an exaggerated profile. He is wearing a dark jacket and holding a basket across his chest. In his hand, he holds a fishing rod that extends out of the image's right edge. The background features another man, slightly blurred and seated, wearing a tall hat and fishing as well. Behind the men, there are indistinct vertical structures suggesting a waterfront fence or railing. The overall setting is outdoors, possibly by a city's waterway, depicted with line shading, giving it a rainy or overcast atmosphere.
