This is a painting of a dimly lit subterranean setting with multiple figures illuminated by various light sources. The artwork depicts a scene where a prominent figure in a white garment descends a stone staircase, lit by lanterns held by other figures positioned around the area. The composition includes several individuals at a lower level, some seated or reclining on the ground. The scene is rendered with deep shadows and contrasting highlights, creating a dramatic atmosphere. This is in the style of Rembrandt.
