Associated Names
Paul Revere

Artist, American, 1735 - 1818

The artwork is a horizontally oriented engraving depicting a scene. In the center, three figures wearing robes and mitres are engaged in a dance, with their arms interlinked. They stand on a floor where a paper labeled "Quebec Bill" is visible. To the left, three men in period attire, including a kilted figure with a bagpipe, observe the scene. Above them, a winged, horned creature leans over. On the right, a group of seated figures in robes and wigs are engaged in conversation or observation. The background features paneling that suggests an interior setting. The engraving is signed "P. Revere sc" at the bottom right, and the title "The Mitred Minuet" is inscribed below the scene.
