The image shows a forest scene drawn with graphite on paper. It depicts a ground-level perspective looking slightly upward along rugged terrain and tall tree trunks. The horizon is suggested by layers of trees and foliage extending into the distance on the right. The drawing uses fine brushstrokes to depict textures of bark, rocks, and foliage. The color palette is monochromatic in various shades of gray, emphasizing contrast and shadows. Large rocks and thick tree trunks are prominent in the foreground, giving way to more trees and branches in the background. A sparse use of negative space on the left contrasts with the detailed right side.
