Artist, American, 1856 - 1925

This is a drawing of a grid with overlapping forms. The description of the image reveals a large sheet with two main sections. The top section features a smaller grid containing abstract, organic lines. The lines suggest forms of figures or motion, enclosed by intersecting linear patterns. Below it, a larger grid takes up most of the page, presenting an illustration in simple linework that resembles human figures in a dynamic, forward-moving pose. The larger figure appears to be pulling or reaching toward the smaller one. The drawing overall gives an impression of planning or studying motion or form through the use of grid lines.
