The image shows a view of a house, focusing on the facade and entrance. The house is covered with blue shingles, and the front door is open, revealing a staircase. The house is surrounded by green trees, one of which is blooming with pink flowers. The front of the house has several windows, and the windows of the upper story have blue shades on either side of them. The roof is painted with white and light blue, and has one central chimney in a pale peach color. The paint has been applied with visible brushstrokes in thin lines.

The artist [1859-1935]; purchased 1920 by George M. Oyster, Jr. [1849-1921], Washington;[1] his estate; bequest 21 January 1924 to the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington; acquired 2015 by the National Gallery of Art.
[1] Oyster probably purchased the painting from the Corcoran's 1919-1920 Seventh Exhibition: Oil Paintings by Contemporary American Artists.
