Sidney Brooks [1799-1878], Medford, Massachusetts; by inheritance to his nephew, Peter Chadron Brooks, III [1831-1920], West Medford, Massachusetts, by 1879;[1] by inheritance to his daughter, Eleanor Brooks Saltonstall [1867-1961, Mrs. Richard Middlecott Saltonstall], Brookline, Massachusetts, by 1922;[2] by inheritance to her sons, Richard Saltonstall [1897-1982] and Leverett Saltonstall [1892-1979]; gift 1962 in their mother's name to Bradford Junior College, Massachusetts;[3] (sale, Robert W. Skinner, Inc., Bolton, Massachusetts, 20 November 1980); (Jordan Volpe Gallery, New York); purchased 11 February 1981 by the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington; acquired 2015 by the National Gallery of Art.
