The image is a pencil sketch depicting a landscape. The horizon line is high, near the top of the sketch, showing a valley with hills in the distance. There are faint outlines of mountains or hills on the horizon. Close to the observer, there are lines indicating tree stumps and rocky terrain, suggesting a forested area. Scattered lines represent trees and hedgerows. In the center, there is a densely sketched area of trees leading up to a fort or structure atop a hill, labeled "Fort Putnam" at the bottom. The pencil lines are light and delicate, with feathery strokes for the trees and terrain. The color palette is monochromatic, using neutral tones against a soft cream background.
