This is a drawing of a winged figure approaching a reclining, elderly figure. The winged figure is reaching towards the elder with an extended hand holding a serpent-entwined staff. The elder is semi-clad in draped fabric, seated amidst rocks and books, with a skull resting on the surface beside him. To the right in the image, another face is partly visible, seemingly carved or depicted on stone. The scene is detailed with emphasis on texture and movement through line work.
