This is a painting of a rustic wooden box. The box has a rectangular shape with an extended lid. The front panel is intricately carved with decorative patterns, including semi-circular motifs along the top edge and a wavy line design at the bottom. Centrally carved into the panel are the initials "J P S" and the date "1681". The craftsmanship suggests an antique style with natural wood tones and traditional woodworking techniques. This is in the style of early American or colonial folk art.
