This is a photograph of an arched doorway illuminated by light streaming through a small window. The interior is dimly lit with pronounced shadows and light patterns on the textured surfaces of walls and floor. The stone or plaster-walled room within has an arched doorway in the center, leading to a space where a small, high window lets in a bright beam of light. This beam of light cuts through the darkness, illuminating part of the interior wall and highlighting the rough texture of the surfaces. The strong contrast between the light and shadows enhances the atmosphere of the space.
