The image shows a view from above the surface of the moon. The perspective appears slightly angled downward as if taken from a hovering position over the lunar landscape. The horizon is placed about two-thirds of the way up from the bottom, curving gently and casting a deep shadow behind it. The landscape is textured with numerous small craters and fine grooves creating a rugged appearance. A large shadow of an object is cast closest to us. The color palette is dominated by a muted, dusty grey of the moon's surface, set against the inky blackness of space beyond the horizon.
