The sculpture is a medallion featuring a central depiction of a sailing ship with large, billowing sails, sailing across a turbulent sea. The ship is rendered in a detailed, raised relief, capturing the texture and depth of its sails and hull. On either side of the ship are two fasces. At the top of the medallion, there is an inscription written in Italian. The medallion is a uniform bronze color, suggesting it is made of bronze or a similar metal alloy.
