Luigi Bartolini

Artist, Italian, 1892 - 1963

The image is a landscape with a viewpoint from a slightly elevated position, looking out towards mountains in the distance. The horizon line is high in the composition, accentuated by a distinct mountain peak dominating the right side. Below the horizon, there is a small rural area with some scattered structures and a bridge in the center-right. The artist uses a sketchy and expressive technique, with varied lines creating texture. The color palette is monochromatic, utilizing shades of black and white. Closest to us, grasses and vegetation are outlined gesturally. The middle section features horizontal swathes, indicating fields or land before the village. The background is dominated by the mountain range, etched with dense strokes forming the texture of the rocky terrain and the sky above, which is filled with swirling lines.
