The woman sits beside him, wearing a long, dark, full-skirted dress with laced cuffs and collar. Her hair is styled in a middle part and neatly pulled back. She holds a white handkerchief in her left hand and supports two of the children with her arms. The children are dressed in period clothing with decorative details, and one child holds a soft toy. The background features a plain wall complemented by an elegant draped curtain to one side.
