Title from caption on object: “American ‘Ducks’ Swim Shoreward...”

June 6, 1944

American 20th Century, United States Army Signal Corps

The image shows an overhead view of a seascape with several amphibious vehicles moving across the water. The horizon is high in the image, with ships visible in the distance. The photograph is in black and white. The vehicles closest to us create wakes as they move through the water, while others further out form a pattern. The image is monochrome, with shades of gray and white depicting the water and vehicles. There is a slightly blurred appearance to the scene, possibly due to age or motion. A dark blurred spot in the upper third of the image affects clarity.
