They are to be executed, the Judge / specified, during the week beginning May 21st. / Under Federal law the death sentence is carried / out in the State in which they are convicted - / which means that they will die in the electric / chair at New York's Sing Sing prison. / If the sentence is carried out, they will be / the first persons ever executed for espionage / in the United States civil courts. / The judge told the couple that their crime, in / delivering the essentials of America's atom- / bomb secrets to Russia, was 'worse than murder'. / PHOTO SHOWS: Julius Rosenberg (right) and / his wife, Ethel, arriving at the Federal Court / for the opening of the trial.
