This painting shows a bust of a man with his head and upper torso visible. He is facing forward, with his body slightly turned to the left. He has strong, defined features with prominent cheekbones, arched eyebrows, and a serious expression. His hair appears to be curly, and on top of his head is an ornate headdress with several feathers, held by a decorative golden band. He is adorned with a golden strap across his shoulder and bare chest, and a golden earring is visible on his left ear. His skin, hair, and the feathers on his head are all a rich brown so dark it is almost black, and his body and face reflect light. The paper around the painting is plain and off-white.
