Artist, American, 1860 - 1875

The image shows a man standing in a relaxed pose with both hands in the pockets of his coat. He has a prominent beard and mustache, and his hair is concealed beneath a tall top hat. The man is dressed in a formal suit consisting of a vest, trousers, and a long dark overcoat. A watch chain is visible hanging from his vest. To his right, there is an ornately carved chair with a cushioned seat and chair back. The background is plain, possibly consisting of a painted wall, with patterned carpet on the floor beneath him. The name "Brady" along with "Washington" appears at the bottom of the photograph.
