This black-and-white photograph shows a small room crowded with furniture and belongings, including a bed with a patchwork quilt, a dresser with assorted items, tall piles of pillows and blankets, and curtains closed over a partially open window. There are six people in the room. In the bottom left corner, a woman applies makeup in front of a mirror next to a lamp with a ruffled shade. In the bottom right corner, three young children sleep in the bed with the patchwork quilt. In the center, a woman with a white headwrap helps a young boy put a jacket or shirt on as they both sit on another bed that has clothes laying across it. Both of the women wear professional clothes, including skirts and collared shirts. All of the people have dark skin and black hair.
