The composition is balanced, with detailed pen-like strokes emphasizing architectural features and foliage texture. The color palette is monochromatic, using sepia and black tones. Closest to the viewer are moored boats, people, and trees. In the distance, the canal extends under a bridge towards more boats and rooftops.
