A dark, shallow V of trees in the bottom half of this horizontal black and white photograph silhouetted against a distant, light-filled landscape. The flat land beyond resembles a vast, sparkling body of water at first glance, but a closer look reveals more trees on snowy ground. The horizon comes more than three-quarters of the way up this composition, and the sky is blank white above.
