Portrait of Three Hunters, Dogs and Game

c. 1870

American 19th Century

Associated Names
Three men are depicted in full-body view. The man on the left is kneeling, holding a firearm, and wearing a cap and ragged coat. His facial features include a mustache. The man in the middle stands confidently, holding a rifle, wearing a wide-brimmed hat, with a full mustache and goatee. The man on the right kneels, also holding a firearm, with a shorter brimmed hat and a clean-shaven face. They are dressed in outdoor clothing, possibly for hunting. Several birds are suspended from a line around them, and two hunting dogs are at their feet. The backdrop suggests a painted outdoor scene.
