The image shows an architectural interior scene with two sets of stairs leading up to a series of arched doorways in the distance. There is an interplay of light and shadow within the enclosed space. The brushstrokes are fine and detailed, creating crisp lines and defined forms, notably in the arches and stairs. The color palette is monochromatic with blacks and grays, and light seeps through the arches, illuminating parts of the scene. Figures are descending one of the staircases, adding scale and movement. In the distance, the arches are lit, drawing the eye down the corridor, while the background remains in shadow.
