The image shows two individuals with rifles standing by the corner of a wooden building. One person is standing and aiming a rifle through a window of the building while the other is crouched and also aiming a rifle, using a large barrel for cover. The building is made of horizontal wooden planks with open windows, one of which has a wooden shutter. Debris and rocks are scattered around the base of the building, and there is a patch of dirt in the foreground. The image is framed in yellow with the text "Photographic History" and "The War for the Union."
