Portrait of Three Sailors

c. 1940

American 20th Century

Associated Names
The image shows three men standing side by side, facing the camera directly with their arms relaxed at their sides. The man on the left has short hair and distinct features, wearing a white sailor's cap tilted slightly upward. The man in the middle has a lighter complexion, a mustache, and is wearing a black cap marked with "U.S. Navy." The man on the right has a pale complexion and medium-length hair, with his white sailor's cap at an angle. They all wear traditional U.S. Navy uniforms with dark blue jackets, scarves, dark trousers, and visible shoes. The background has a wall with various knots and loops, likely for instructional purposes, and the floor is wooden. Adequate lighting gives a vintage feel to the image.
