Provenance

Possibly Louis Philippe I [1773–1850]; by descent to Luisa Fernanda of Spain, Duchess of Montpensier, Madrid and Seville [1832-1897]; by descent to Alberto Huarte Myers, Pamplona [1926- 2011]; (Arte Clío, Pamploma); acquired 1998 by Enrique Martínez Glera, Pamplona;[1] acquired 2024 by (Jaime Eguiguren Arts & Antiquities, Buenos Aires); purchased 2026 by NGA.

[1] For the provenance, see document with historical note from Jaime Eguiguren, explaining that Arte Clío was created by Huarte Myers to sell the materials he had inherited from his aunt, who in 1921 had married into the Montpensier family that descended from the House of Orléans (undated, in NGA curatorial file). See also emails from Enrique Martínez Glera from 24 and 27 April 2026 to Carlos Maura about the sale of the voluminous Montpensier inheritance through Arte Clío.
