The image is of a shipyard with a large ship under construction amid scaffolding and rods. The horizon is obscured by the structure, with smoke in the sky. The style is characterized by bold lines, giving a sketch-like impression of the shipbuilding process. The color palette is monochromatic, using deep blacks, greys, and beige. Close to the viewer, the ground is littered with planks and construction materials.
