This is a painting of a large bird standing on a grassy hillock by the sea. The bird has a broad chest with dark brown feathers forming a pattern, and its wings are rich deep brown, contrasting with the lighter shades of its chest and neck. Its head is detailed, with a dark cap, and its beak has a sharp hook at the end. It is perched solidly on the ground, with webbed feet firmly planted, next to a large, open seashell. The background shows silhouettes of distant icebergs against a pale sky and calm sea.
